Extend Performance Team

The NCSD Extend Performance Team is a dedicated and inspiring group of dancers aged 6–19 years. In addition to their regular weekly classes, these dancers commit to multiple hours of training and rehearsals each week to refine routines that are performed throughout the year.

Dancers have the opportunity to compete in solo, duo, trio, and team routines across a variety of styles, including Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre/Broadway, and more. The team competes at 6–10 competitions annually across New Zealand and also performs at community and professional events such as the North Canterbury Wearable Arts.

Our competition team is known for its strong family atmosphere, creating a positive and supportive environment where dancers are encouraged to challenge themselves, grow in confidence, and pursue their passion for dance.

Nominee’s for Young Performer of the Year 2023

We are extremely proud of our Modern Dance Soloist Saki Takao as well as our Senior Contemporary group ‘Goodbye’ who received a nomination to perform at the New Zealand National Competition (PACANZ) 2023. This is a New Zealand wide competition held in Palmerston North on Labour Weekend, made up of the most Elite teams and soloists from across the country. Some of our qualifying dancers have been with us since the very beginning of our dance school and it is such an honor to see their passion and dedication for dance reflected through this incredible achievement. Goodbye’ qualified for the PACANZ Troupe finals and was awarded 17th place. Congratulations, we are beyond proud of you! What an incredible achievement! A huge thank you to Christchurch Ballet Society and CTDTA for the nominations.

“PACANZ has been one of the best experiences of my life! To be able to watch and compete against the most talented dancers from around NZ was so incredibly inspiring. I feel so fulfilled and grateful to have been able to take this opportunity to grow as a dancer and meet so many gifted performers from around the country.” Testimony from one of our Goodbye Dancers.
